Pictures tell the Story!
The Above picture is of button from the Civil War (GAR). Before
plastic was invented the Mississippi River was large in clamming. Button
factories would use the clam shells to stamp out buttons. See example in lower
right. The owner is Karen Alexander, moved to Lansing in 1993, right after
the Great Flood of 1993. Karen has been doing theses crafts since the
early 70"s. She also sent her daughter to the Waldorf School of Art's &
Crafts.
